Katherine E. Wurtz, 85, of Janesville died Monday, April 4, 2016 at shortly after arrival at Mercy Hospital & Trauma Center. Katherine was born on November 28, 1930 in the rural Whitewater area, the daughter of Lloyd W. and Mabel (Longley) Blodgett. She graduated from Whitewater High School. She married Berkley D. Wurtz on December 23, 1951 at the Whitewater United Methodist Church. Following their marriage she resided in Janesville the rest of her life. She was formerly employed by Parker Pen Company and retired from Cedar Crest Retirement Home. Katherine was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and its Altar Guild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Berkley Wurtz on May 22, 2002.
Katherine Wurtz is survived by four children, Michael Wurtz of Janesville, Linda (Willis) Jones of Groveland, FL, Thomas (Tina) Wurtz of Janesville and Charles (Cheryl) Wurtz of Janesville, 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one sister, Marci (Elmer) McCulloch of Whitewater. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters, Edwin, Clarabelle, Evelyn, George, David, Sanford, Wayne, De Lou “Red” and Raymond.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 9, 2016 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 1422 Center Avenue, Janesville. Rev. Bruce Gray will officiate. No visitation will be held prior to the service. The family will meet friends following the service at the church for a time of fellowship and refreshments. The Wurtz family is being assisted by Henke-Clarson Funeral Home
